Innovation abounded and the push to focus on the “PPT to Flash&# angle continued to shine. SCORM Cloud – What’s not to love? OR you can create courses SCORM 2004 courses within their tool which is in the “cloud&# and do the same thing. ADL SCORM 2004 CERTIFIED. Also SCORM 1.2 & AICC.

HTML5 output including a PPT converter to HTML5. Work offline with their optional Studio Server – extra charge. SCORM 2004, AICC. #4 Equation tool – I’ve seen more vendors add this thing – and unless you are in education I can’t see why you would use it. Audio recording and editing.

PowerPoint still reigns – If you are a course purist, the idea that PPT should be seen as an authoring tool should make you grumble with disgust. . Yes, you can use it for many different things, and yes, Microsoft has an add-on that turns PPT into something similar to Adobe Presenter. PowerPoint is presentation software.

Do I need to get an authoring tool that is SCORM or can it just be proprietary? If you want to track in a learning management system or learning platform that supports SCORM then you want it. Yeah, you can upload word docs, PPT, etc. Why would I want a SaaS solution over hosted on my own servers product?

Basically, you can add your PPT, MP4, assessment, word docs, etc. along with the course you have uploaded into one nice package and view it within that player; or just have the course you uploaded – SCORM/AICC and xAPI, HTML5. Oh, it is a SaaS only system, hosted on Amazon servers. . SCORM support – mmmm.

An alarming rate of “get the content up now, ASAP&# regardless of what it looks like, instructional design is typically tossed out the window, especially when the ID, CD or whomever is tasked to create is handed a stream of documents in Word or PPT or some other form.
