Assessment tool vendors – Questionmark was there, can’t recall anyone else. Content authoring tool vendors equally not over abundent (Rapid Intake, Allen Communications, Articulate, Adobe were there among a few others). LMS vendors surprised how many didn’t show up. Especially from outside the U.S.

Some certification programs do a mix of project work (individual projects) and a final assessment, some just do the project options, find what works for you. .

Assessment Tools – SaaS is the way to go, and the ones in the market, are either very basic, or they can do the basics and go far beyond to extensive assessment feature sets. I am a personal fan of Questionmark, which is in the latter group, but the UI needs a major update ( I am told it is on their roadmap for 2021).

Questionmark. Yes it is a top-notch SaaS assessment tool and it has a lot of functionality, but the UI is dated and needs major revamp. Lastly, are there assessment tools in learning systems that have hit the level whereas a standalone is no longer needed? Award category – Time to retire your tool, product, etc.

I started my conversation at the booth on whether they were riding a dinosaur product that would dissipate by 2025 as LMSs and others are making their assessment tools more robust. Bottom Line. There are solutions in the assessment market that really look sharp on a mobile phone. One is Questionmark. Always check to see if whatever – courses or assessments data can go back into your LMS for tracking purposes and find out specifically, how that works. This is an ever-changing and growing market.

Of course, if it isn't an e-learning tutorial you're after, then: for simple HTML content I'd use whatever tool comes with the LMS or content management system; for 2D games I'd use a specialist tool that generates Flash output; for rigorous assessments I'd use a tool like QuestionMark ; for content that learners can contribute towards I'd use a wiki; (..)
