The Association market is by far, IMO, one of the top three markets, that as a vendor, you should be in. In the past, I’ve always listed the association mkt within the B2B/Customer Education, because it does fit nicely within. There are Professional (which most folks are aware of) and Trade associations.

The premise that an LXP, for example, does so much more than an LMS is 100% untrue. The vast majority of LXPs today are within a learning platform, or an LMS or as an add-on option to either of those offerings. The most that are out there (I base this on my template, which has more than 100 skill capabilities) is Cornerstone.

I never understood why vendors love to place the pricing in the far back of their proposals, some of which I have seen that are more than 25 pages, as though you are going to start on the first page and read through. Just as I can’t figure out why vendors love giving you their history as if that is going to sway you on buying a system.

Be aware you are not changing the functionality angle, nor would you want do – especially around metrics, etc. Thought Industries is for customer education/partner training, associations, and other B2B/B2C, like training providers for example. What about other vendors? The vendor, doesn’t have to do it.

I admit have the time when I look at a few from the larger name entities, I can’t figure out how that vendor got to that part of that grid, what in the heck does that mean, and why is that vendor who isn’t even a learning system, appearing in that section of the grid over there?
