To understand the history of the LMS, there are five items that drove it. WBT (Web-Based Training). We did Online Learning in the 60’s – False Narrative There were systems back in the day, where they could be run on your own server, used via a CD-ROM, via WAN or LAN, but to me, that isn’t and e-learning LMS.

Why can’t you say YES, when you want to buy a learning system?

Remember Lotus 1-2-3? For those of us, who experienced the late 80s when Floppy Discs ruled, and then used Lotus in the 90’s, the memory of such a solution, is easily forgotten (although I did take an online course using only Lotus Notes, in 1998). I would love to know who is still using Lotus Notes 6.5.

Well, it is e-learning, but not a good one and definitely not true WBT (Web based training). Some SBL classes have webinar or web meeting like setting so you can see the instructor present on the topic of the day or week. I have seen SBL courses – i.e. classes used with Lotus Notes, so you do not have to have a LMS to have a SBL.
