Tried to show video of Meet Charlotte, but video doesn’t work well over Elluminate. This is not a synchronous platform–experts can use a webcam and easily record and upload content. They use it asynchronously too. Not a lot of instructional design, just getting people to share content. More like an intranet YouTube.

I regularly present live (synchronous) webinars or web seminars, and other teaching sessions from my home office, or from a hotel room, and conceivably just about anywhere else there is connectivity to the internet. It's asynchronous, but can still be a highly effective way of sending quality content to distributed student groups.

Of course, you have several challenges: The students are geographically distributed and, therefore, using an audio-enabled online synchronous presentation room (such as Elluminate Live!) It gets much closer to that providing that intangible feeling of face-to-face discussion while being completely asynchronous.
