"Emerging" = kinds of e-learning that are just starting to show up -- in labs, new company offerings. In the 90s there were one or two ways to do e-Learning: CDRoms and then the web. Pages and pictures and some sound and we turned the pages and took a test. This was "e-Learning 1.0". People dont learn in chunks.

Im concerned that women will be excluded if such a focus is put on gaming skills -- or at least the gamer label. Im just raising some questions. The folks at Kineo wrote a piece on the future of rapid e-learning tools, summarizing "our view is to give potential authors [SMEs] some easy to use but well structured templates which will give instructional integrity to how they develop their learning." If youre providing SMEs with the templates, Im not sure theyll be altering them.

Im not sure if the SME was reading a script, reading the notes, or just speaking from the heart. They said it "sounded more real" and they trusted it more because they knew this person was talking from experience. Not the best quality sound, but who really cares when you're listening over your crappy laptop speakers anyway.
