Kompozer – Very easy authoring tool, WYSIWYG approach; tabbed editing, template support, plug-in capabilities, oh did I mention it was simple? Nice editing capability and includes FTP (File Transfer Protocol – so you can upload your files directly into your server or your LMS server, if you know the FTP IP, password, user name).

Then again, I have yet to attend a show that offered soy milk, although one time a server actually brought in their own the next day for me – that person deserves a raise! The biggest knock on the show in previous years was that it was getting smaller with less vendors. Why as an e-learning vendor you should attend this show.

What is of note, is that this is not new in terms of systems being offered “in the cloud” This was happening back when e-learning began, with quite a few systems in the cloud by 2002. Because if you are using a content authoring tool that is SCORM 2004, then you must find a system that is at least 2004. Your tool will not work with a 1.2. Content Authoring Tool. Most systems that offer a CAT, include it at no charge, but sadly there is an increase of vendors who charge an extra cost for it.

SaaS product – but here’s the thing – if you want the course to be in your LMS – it can but it still sits on the ZZ server side and not in your system (should note that the LMS connectivity is available only in the $40/u version). To me, that is a major misstep, although I understand why they do it.
