Looks like a season for Awards; and as a vibrant community, it was about time LearnTrends joined in. Totally unlike most awards, there are no entry fees and the winners get a grand prize – the ability to make a short presentation at LearnTrends 2009 in November. I like the idea, a focused award for innovation.

These awards are designed to recognize the products, projects and companies that represent interesting innovations in use of technology for Corporate / Workplace Learning and Performance.
The second is LearnTrends 2009 , November 17-19, with the theme of “Convergence in Workplace Learning.&# Tags: K-12 Lifelong Learning e-Learning FETC learntrends. The first is the FETC Virtual Conference and Expo on October 22. I haven’t attended this conference before, but it looks interesting and the price is right.
LearnTrends 2009 starts tomorrow! To register, you must first register on the LearnTrends community and then register on the Conference Event Page. I’m really looking forward to very interesting conversations around the messy topic of convergence. There seems to be quite a bit of last minute registration activity. Should be lively.

They had attended the LearnTrends free online conference. I was recently asked me about my recommendations for conducting effective online conferences (virtual conference). This conference has been run for a few years now and is tentatively scheduled for November 15-17 this year.
That’s not going to work for: LearnTrends LA CTO Forum Work Literacy I’ve read a bit about alternatives, but each will require a bit of work. I was hoping that Ning was going to come out with a inexpensive plan that would support the different Ning sites that I have a hand in. They do have Ning Mini at $3/mo, but it only allows 150 members.

Free learning can come from groups like Work Literacy that provided a large online learning experience for free, or from LearnTrends that produces amazing content like LearnTrends 2009 for free. Free Learning may not be as high a quality – although I would claim that LearnTrends and WorkLiteracy filled niches.

I was surprised by the fear and loathing expressed around SharePoint yesterday at LearnTrends 2009. I don’t think it’s the best tool out there, but it likely is the best tool being adopted by your IT department and is part of the Enterprise 2.0 plan in your organization. My belief is that it’s going to be a big part of eLearning 2.0
