Despite overall consumer demand (not just within e-learning) for tablets, and numbers showing that tablets are outselling notebooks, e-learning vendors as whole are sitting back and waiting.

2011 LMS Award Winners plus a quick note on m-learning

What has been applying is the term mobile learning and how it it pitched to consumers in the e-learning sector, especially with LMS/LCMS/Learning platform vendors. If at a minimum you can implement at least one of these features (and yes, there are content authoring tool and LMS vendors who have it/working on it now), that works for me.

Best of the Best – Extended Enterprise or multi-tenant LMSs

Native app available in iTunes/Apple and Google (Android) – very few vendors have native apps. The system as a whole is quite robust including digital signatures, online/offline synch and a very nice UI. Certpoint $$$-$$$$. Each update takes the platform up on notch on its competitors. NetDimensions - $$-$$$$.

While it is true that there are vendors who are pure online proctoring solutions, it would seem to me, that having it as part of a learning management or platform is a better route then just a self-contained OP solution. Working on the course - one is online then goes offline and the other author goes online. Bottom Line.
