When developing eLearning, the content is often created in Microsoft PowerPoint first. I'm not going to get into what it takes to create visually compelling PowerPoint presentations (we have a mini course for that ). Adobe Captivate and PowerPoint. In fact, Captivate has supported PowerPoint imports for years.

I came across this mind map by Cammy Bean which covers nearly all the tools available for creating/authoring eLearning content. Should be able to import/export content (like PPT, DOC, or simple HTML), and allow for edits after import. Should be able to import external Flash SWF as well as audio and video in variety of popular formats.

Flash SWF Course files created Using Bespoke Adobe Flash FLA: Mostly, these cannot be quickly converted to HTML5 elearning. Scenario A: You have only the published SWF output.
