All they care about is whether the system is in “the cloud” SaaS or “in the cloud” to the consumer means that is it hosted on your servers or wherever you host your LMS and they can access it via the internet regardless of where they are located as long as they have an internet connection. Web sites yes.

What it is though, is something that will rock your foundation and can turn the LMS world standing on their head, because now you can become your own learning SCORM compliant system. Ability to take SCORM compliant courses, including SCORM 2004 from a portal, online learning community, social learning platform or solution, a group, whatever.

What is of note, is that this is not new in terms of systems being offered “in the cloud” This was happening back when e-learning began, with quite a few systems in the cloud by 2002. Systems that are only available as hosted on your own servers are starting to significantly decline. Open Source Systems.

Kineo Partners handle hosting (if you want it) and support, rather than Kineo Group. Charge extra for hosting – Kineo Pacific told me 6K to host, Kineo Group told me 12K to 18K to host including support. Seems to focus more on client side server, when space as a whole is focused more on SaaS. What I Disliked.

Open Source Product of the Year (i.e. Sure, other vendors will say you can do that too, but you have to open each object file to get it. iPod, mobile phones, YouTube, message boards, e-mail. iTunes, iTunes University, Facebook, MySpace, CD, web server & more. SAAS or hosted on your own servers.

SaaS or on your own servers – they can do both, but ideally prefer SaaS (they host it). E-commerce. APIs – as in their (video learning platform itself) API is open. – always check with the vendor – they all support HD. your own logo (not all the vendors offer this option.
