One vendor asked if you wanted to learn more about their product and sent you to their help desk to notify them of errors or issues with their system (hmm, not likely to buy one from these guys). Over 90% of LMS vendors had their sites available only in English; so the potential customer could not view it in any other language.

Go to some vendor sites and try to figure out what exactly are they offering. Their sites seem more interested in pitch and filler rather then showing the product and its key features or functions. Not only do you see this on their sites, but in their materials. Marketing. A huge problem in the space. Bottom Line.

As aforementioned the amount of fonts you can use is unbelievable, plus the ability to choose the various types of text colors is in alignment with many web site tools, and rarely seen in course authoring tools. Two vendors who pulled this “perception” is not reality come to mind. In 2009, a well known and highly respected vendor was advertising on their site that their focus was their LMS, yet behind the scenes told me that they perceived their system as a performance management system. Bottom Line.

For the question above, you will find out quickly via the demo – on whether you like the way the vendor’s system handles this or not. The vendor either mentions it on their web site, or in their pitch or people inquire – if they can get Excel or How do to Sales, etc., with the system.
