Some shows, the expo ruled and the seminars did not, and vice versa. World of Learning Conference – Birmingham, UK – Lots of potential here. Well organized – a must show for e-learning vendors in 2015. Extremely well organized, lots of seminars, strong crowd.

I saw a lot more folks than in previous shows and more e-learning vendors too. Equally there were several ILT vendors who had some type of online learning thing going on. Seminars in general – As with any show, there was good seminars, average and downright awful. Some of the seminars.

Each time I attend there are a lot of decision makers rumbling around seeking out vendors, wanting to start communication and scheduling demos, meetings, etc. Sure there were some LMS vendors there, but sheesh, there should have been a lot more. Studies have shown that on the average a person retains 8-10% from an ILT class/seminar/workshop. If you had the ability to go into a course as often as you want, as many as times as you want, to learn and re-learn the information, your retention will increase – thus E-Learning is in the 90% rate.

In other words, if you want to have 3 seminars going on at 9 a.m. Typically with licenses - a lot of vendors do not enable you to have the multiple rooms at the same time – i.e. the multiple seminars going on at the same time offer. After all, it is a seminar but online. E-Learning 24/7.

Charge for webinars – The days of a hybrid model where you did ILT (seminars) and did some webinars (via web conferencing) are gone. There are some good ones out there, and from a learning system standpoint some vendors in the B2B/B2C market are adding this capability.

Do you offer the ability to have people sign up for multiple seminars within the system? Can you tie it to your e-commerce (if you have it in your system), so when people register and their is a fee, they pay it? . 15 Seminar Learning System . I do wish they offered more robust analytics for perf. mgt, but that is an issue the whole industry including talent management and human capital management systems still finds challenging or umm lack of desire to do. #15 Despite some sales hiccups, this is a wonderful product.

Demos – 50% of the time, but 50% of the time – vendor sends you to their web site – specifically you can visit us at blah blah. The downside to the latter is how many people after the end of the day, many of whom attended the seminar sessions, remembered the url of your web site?

For the vendors who offer this option, they go about it in a couple of ways. and another seminar at 9 a.m. Unlimited sessions per month, but they can not be concurrent. That is to say, if you want session A at 9 a.m. in another room, you cannot. You can only schedule one session per hour. Concurrent.

Just like a face to face seminar, people are distracted. What is of interest, is that most attendees have no idea that is happening. Thus, if you do not turn off that option, be aware as an attendee your messages are not truly private. Are you Listening? Reality time. Whether or not they mute, people often try to multi-task.

The only time I have in 12 yrs of e-learning seen a person’s name and e-mail address on a course was in an Instructor led training class – in a classroom, seminar or workshop. At a workshop or seminar? Stop the presses! I’ve never seen in a web based training course/online web based training.

Scheduling simplicity – it shouldn’t take someone with a doctorate in genetics to figure out how to sign up for a seminar or whatever.
