There are some good ones out there, and from a learning system standpoint some vendors in the B2B/B2C market are adding this capability. One e-learning vendor who has as part of their assessment solutions has an online proctoring component is Questionmark. They can integrate with any learning system out there.

The timeline enables you to move around the slides and synchronize them to whatever you have added. Under Synchronization. On the side toolbar: Add/edit slides. Add/edit media. Add/edit tests. Record Voiceover. In my case I added some an audio file. Play and Synch. Set Slide Duration. Clear all Synch Points.

Basically the synchronous approach is in essence, shoving ILT online with some discussion threads, whereas the end user enters in some text, others respond, and they hope the instructor is active in the experience (many are not). What about the academic or education possibilities?
