History of the LMS

eLearning 24-7

ILT (Instructor Led Training – Workplace, even EdTech – K-12 and Higher Education). CBT Prior to online learning known then as WBT, and then the latter term of e-learning (vendors today, use it to refer to content that is online), there was CBT. It had something to do with ILT. CBT (Computer-Based Training).

Product Review: GeoLearning GeoMaestro

eLearning 24-7

GeoLearning’s GeoMaestro is a LMS that packs a wallop but at the same time has some features that provide limitations. Strong ILT functions (for those who offer instructor led training). It is truly amazing on how vendors seem to think lots of stuff on the page, is the way to go and navigation is just a requirement.

The LMS – Let’s Set The Record Straight

eLearning 24-7

In my upcoming NexGen Leader Pack (coming in late July), the majority are LMS vendors. LMS vendor. Nor at DevLearn.

2022 Turkey Awards

Oh, and not the first vendor I’ve seen this route, but that was more than a decade ago. Well, I guess for ILT, and even then as time has evolved, it hasn’t. There are vendors who pitch they have it, and there are folks who oversee L&D who still believe in it. One Term that Should be Kicked to the Curb.

The Broken Dream – LXP

eLearning 24-7

Look today, at the number of folks who still hang onto ILT. It was clear that not even LXP vendors (as a whole) knew – which explained why they targeted L&D, ignoring the other monster in the room, training. LXP vendors loved to push the notion that LMSs (the dominant learning system type) only provided formal learning.

One Step Behind

eLearning 24-7

The vendor? GeoLearning. Basically the synchronous approach is in essence, shoving ILT online with some discussion threads, whereas the end user enters in some text, others respond, and they hope the instructor is active in the experience (many are not). What happened? Where is the excitement in that?
