Vendors saying “have you looked at XYZ” (which is their system). plus all the vendors will be found in FindAnLMS), I do have systems I can recommend based on various criteria. Yet, as I have often noted, it is rarely pushed upon in an RFP, let alone a demo. And I ask it often when talking to vendors.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the majority of vendors who go with Gen-AI (and eventually, they all must, or they will be too far behind), use GPT (by OpenAI). I’m already seeing the sidestep I wrote about just a week ago, in order for vendors to reduce cost (those tokens). Maybe today it is ChatGPT (cheaper token-wise).

If they were a vendor who played in EdTech (K-12, HE) but also played into corporate and did so, not just by having clients find them, but actively through marketing, they were considered too. Strictly If the vendor was a custom shop building a system, off say Moodle or whatever code they are using that is open source? Strictly EdTech?

The vendor says they can meet my use case, it’s a perfect fit, I move forward. We used to do a lot of on-site ILT. Not seeing the system beforehand, leads many times to this idea of an extensive RFP submission. I use only one RFP. You force the vendor to provide details. Aligns with my use case. Downside 2.

Inability to have course be non-linear when live; it stays linear (another typical ILT feature), hint: WBT’s power is non-linear. I’m a big time fan of vendors who post their pricing on their site. Requirement for the “trainer” to have their e-mail address before course is launched – why? One Other Note.
