While you can try tinkering in a photo editing program, or shrinking the image and crossing your fingers in hopes that no one looks too closely, the best strategy is to start with crystal clear pictures. You may also need to adjust your phone camera settings to be sure it’s set to take higher-resolution photos if you intend to print them.

You can make the background of an image transparent with an advanced photo editor like Photoshop , with TechSmith’s Snagit , or with a variety of other tools. If you are using a JPG or other file format, you’ll need to adjust your background color in the Snagit editor first or it will default to white rather than transparent.
