Why are some vendors making it impossible? Why are some vendors treating you as a spy or something sinister when you just want to try out the product? You would think that with over 140 authoring tools on the market, vendors would want you to try out their product before dropping any type of cash. Trial by Fire.

Long has tools such as Studio and Captivate been on the higher side, the same can be said for vendors such as Rapid Intake and dominKnow. Because other vendors are getting into the act as well. What is an equal frightening event is when authoring tool vendors do not even list their pricing on their page. So why the fear?

Bewildered on what is happening, why what is needed isn’t appearing as it should, and how is it possible that something so obvious based on where e-learning is heading, mobile is pushing and future tech is inspiring is lost among so many vendors? And therein lies one of the issues, that is showing up with many, many vendors.

If I am a potential customer, I would expect nothing less to come out of the vendor’s mouth on their product and user friendliness. Some vendors who have failed to deliver, in my opinion, a user friendly system, due to front end or back end (admin side), or sometimes both. If I am vendor, whose product is paid (i.e.

The eLearning Guild’s LS2011 event was well attended and features 50+ vendors and more than 1300 participants from the training and development industry. The authoring tool vendors will say their products are for everyone. Or the demand from themselves, the vendors. SCORM compliant learning object generator, customized editing interface, web based media player that works across multiple platforms, video/audio, image slides, text synchronization. Bottom Line. The demand from developers?
