I have been choosing it many years ago (with version 1) for that feature as well. It can be used as standalone asset; the viewer only needs a mp4 player which is available on each system. You can use an embedded video file or refer to a published MP4 file on YouTube (and probably in next version also possible with Vimeo files).

A trial version is available. InfoSemantics used to have a SWF widget (EventHandler), worked great, but with the EOL of Flash player for all browsers, not so useful anymore. It is not free but if you are plunging really into advanced/shared actions, please try it out because it can add as many events as you want to any object.

All we have to do is to convert all the media to.flv so it can be embedded in the SWF, then publish the SCORM package to the LMS.”. You may also be interested in reporting options that show the time taken to complete the course, the learner’s assessment score, etc. Approximately 95% of the PCs in the world have flash player installed.

Usually I will not talk about a new version immediately after its release. It has been possible to fill a shape with an image since version 6. One exception: embedded buttons on Quiz/Score slides cannot be shape buttons, so I use transparent buttons for those. In version 11.5 SVG as Button.
