I’m not overly sold on HD for online tutorials. Less vendors are offering the HTML5 output, which seems to be strange, especially as more e-learning vendors as a whole are jumping right in. Support (as in output) to AICC/SCORM – a major win! Share online recordings. That’s fine.

Greater increase in the number of learning management systems offering quiz/assessment tools. This is not to say that every LMS can do this, nor does it say that what the end user sees is uber-robust, but on the back end the analytical data for many systems can be significant. Even a DL# can be worrisome.

SCORM compliance and/or AICC – there are tools out there who support neither – but that is not the norm and there are a few tools out there who also support PENS. Multiple learning paths or branching. and SCORM support and learning objects. Add documents, materials including ability to attach to courses.

For the larger size vendors, I expect that by the end of 2012, to see a few systems drop their core learning features to 10% of their entire product. They truly become a mini HR ERP with robust talent management functionality, rather then their initial premise of a LMS. #3. Social Learning. Peer review.
