I have a real issue with vendors who charge extra – via a license with their “partner&# or otherwise for a web conferencing – and thus ability to offer webinars, in their solution. Xmeeting - video conferencing, offers built in PIP (Picture in Picture), address book – MAC only. It should be free – 100%.

Amaya – Lots of features, simple user interface, offers split screen, CSS, Mac and Windows capability, panels, easy to use. A novice could learn it and do some things quicker than Dreamweaver. Works with Mac, Windows. MAC OS X Only Paid. E-Learning 24/7. Legitimate competitor? Absolutely! Uh not likely.

Added bonus – supports Mac OS too, and has an app in the Mac store. A few vendors say “social learning” but it is often far from it. Social tags, RSS, gaming activities. I’m always amazed at some of the names vendors come up with for authoring tools. Works with smartphones. #19

I realized I left out three additional gems that vendors seem to have just fallen off the planet when it comes to the REAL WORLD! They are not going away, and yet an enormous amount of vendors do not support them, let alone Safari. Many vendors support this. When I look at LMS/LCMS vendors I always ask them if they support LAS.

The big elephant in the room that we hear so many times and vendors love to pitch (to get you to their system), but rarely the vendors themselves will admit to – many have only themselves to blame. Sometimes, it is the client’s fault and sometimes it is the vendor’s fault. Why, Oh Why do I lose the love?
