When I started my role with Learnkit , I was eager to share the good news of my new job with my parents. They’ve always been supportive of my career path and understand the importance of training and development for every type of organization.

When I first started writing essays for school, the rule we were given was “no online sources allowed.” Imagine trying to write a guide for citing online sources in 1997, the year before Google was founded? If I am writing a paper, I can say that Russia is the largest country in the world without having to provide a source.
This is how it works: Make a resolution to find out how to use 10 new tools this year (say one a month) and how they might help with your personal productivity, professional learning or development, or for use in education or training, or in the enterprise for performance support or workforce collaboration.
Our goal as trainers is to get people to adopt the new behavior as their own and perform it willingly and well — we want them to become more internally motivated. Research seems to support the idea that people are more likely to become internally motivated if we support their needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness.
While I still work out of my home office in the Boston area, our office in downtown Chicago now boasts a full host of project managers, instructional designers, ace graphic artists, top notch developers, our Totara LMS support team, as well as marketing and support personnel. Well, that people actually like to read what I write.
I’m learning a great deal of new things and meeting great, supportive people along the way.
