You can buy a big system that does all (like Blackboard, Sumtotal, Saba, Cornerstone on demand, et cetera) or you can go for a bunch of specialized tools that will beat that big solution on every specialty. Old school e-leaning tools need to be installed on your computer or even worse on your company servers. No installed software.

I don’t predict the end of big systems like Saba, SumTotal, SAP or any other LMS vendor overnight. Similarly, I believe the LMS is on its way to becoming a back-office server, more integrated into HCM over time. Let’s all get excited about the new world of learning, which I call “learning in the flow of work.”
However, you can use all the pieces and deploy it on your own servers or in the cloud. Saba is a longtime player in the learning management space and is widely known for its talent management system. In fact, as a client, I participated in a Saba presentation 20+ years ago that helped introduce me to extended enterprise education.
We did Online Learning in the 60’s – False Narrative There were systems back in the day, where they could be run on your own server, used via a CD-ROM, via WAN or LAN, but to me, that isn’t and e-learning LMS. Still in existence Saba – Today? It was text, that’s it. And another day, for that story.
Some vendors will place the B2B on a separate server, thus the parent and all their children sit on a standalone server and not on one server with all the other clients, although each client has its own silo. But if you can and you want to decide between CoD, SF, Saba or SumTotal. Top Five B2B. Go SumTotal.
Saba and Centra) WebEx is partnering with an LMS provider as will Adobe [link] Rapid Development Trend How do you expect the % of informal usage to change over 2 years?" Adobe, Articulate building little back-end server technologies that enable you to build straightforward courses, install in LMS and track results.
and Saba), the following error displays “Server Error in Application “Default Web Site”, HTTP Error 404.11 – Not Found” Screen shot of full message below. I’ve developed 9 separate modules for a course and prepared SCORM 1.2 versions for use by external clients.
Q : I am curious on why Cornerstone On Demand, Saba and SumTotal do not appear in your top twenty lists even though they appear on other sites as the best products in the market. Saba - A solid system, but IMO (in my opinion) better suited for talent/performance management. So, back for another installment. Am I missing something?
Hey Andy, I currently use Saba as an LMS. Is the Dispatch application/service available if we host our own content server? If you have a question, you can always fill out this form and ask Andy too. I need to deliver SCORM compliant training to my clients that they can distribute to their employees. Thanks, Desperate to Distribute.
It could be SaaS infrastructure, PaaS infrastructure, a hybrid infrastructure, sitting on your own servers infrastructure, but it is infrastructure. Can sit on your own servers, SaaS or a hybrid. Many people are only aware of the bigger names such as Cornerstone, Saba, SuccessFactors, Oracle Learn, Infor and Sum Total.
I found that of concern, especially when server crashes were constant. The content even with content publishers, beyond just aggregators sits on their servers and not say, the learning system. Cornerstone acquired Saba, and Clustree. that needed a system. E-Learning did not exist prior to the Internet.
Rather, you are an imaginary friend who thinks he is a server. The biggest surprise to me is Saba. Again, this is in reference to the learning portion of Saba and not the entire platform of talent, etc. Saba is the unknown here, because of their previous track record. If you are 0, then you are not a learning system.
I identify the Big Dogs as SumTotal by Skillsoft (yes, that is the actual name), Cornerstone OnDemand, Saba, SucessFactors and Oracle Taleo (although, I ask myself who is using this and if you still are why?). However, I will say this: I like what Saba is doing. The system still – equally as Saba – needs some work.
This was the first time I presented on this topic and the first time I led a session using Saba’s Centra platform. Also, we moved to a new server so you Mac folks should be able to play nicely with the platform. Here are the slides from an online session I did yesterday on Multi-Generational Learning in the Workplace.
Q: Saba, SumTotal, Cornerstone, Taleo, SuccessFactors must be the best because a lot of people buy these systems. A: If the LMS is available only as a hosted solution – as on your company’s own servers – it may not. Well Known Systems. A: I think a lot of people purchase these systems because they.
Docebo, Axonify, Administrate, SumTotal, Cornerstone on Demand, Spoke by Unboxed Technology, Service Rocket, Saba, LearnUpon. Wonder who is using Amazon as their server host? Who can you expect to see (I’m just going to provide a small list here, so not every vendor in the Top 50 is listed below).
In fact, each of the “Four Horsemen” who rule the enterprise – namely SumTotal , Saba , Plateau & Geolearning – gave it a go in some way although no one outside their immediate customers or PR agencies seemed to notice. Mobile learners will begin to expect (and demand!) Yeah, check out this new product we’re selling next month!”).
Brainshark, Plateau/SF/SAP, Saba, Skillsoft) who suggest the mobile web app approach is superior to the native app approach have simply not made the necessary investments required in building the right teams and selecting the proper tools and methods that meet contemporary mobile learner and more general business app mobility expectations.
You know the names – Cornerstone , Oracle , Saba Software , SAP SuccessFactors , SumTotal Systems and Workday. Basically LTI is like SCORM , but it doesn’t require content to reside on the same server as an LMS. But now, selecting the right partner with longevity is more important than ever.
No Cornerstone OnDemand at the show – that was really surprising, especially since they push Learning Cloud; No Saba, again they are really pushing folks to Saba Cloud, and have stated their commitment to Learning. Oh, it is a SaaS only system, hosted on Amazon servers. . Vendor Time – Vendor Time.

From there, you can now inquire with the vendor if they are doing something above and beyond what the server site offers and includes. People either love or hate Cornerstone OnDemand, SumTotal Learn, Saba, SuccessFactors. Go to the site and explore the technical side of the house – the information is fully visible.
While there is nothing wrong with seeking the golden goose, and even catching it a few times, if you do not have the server bandwidth to do so, nor the internal support and capabilities to handle it, how long do you think they will remain? How long do you think your current customers whom you initially targeted are going to be happy.
Cannot skin on the SaaS version and even if you host it on your own servers you have to do it via CSS code (this is not uncommon in the VLP market, but it still is a minus in book). Saba: See SumTotal. M-Learning – can view on tablets, including iPad. Has a little bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, simple.
For example, SABA was always a really big name, but they’re sort of starting to slip off. We’re talking histograms and graphs, I see them continuing that with the premise of the administrator sends a link to learners and then they go and take the course, because the content is on the vendor servers.
If a vendor tells you they are not in the content business, I can only assume they must be in the web server business, because without content, that is all you have – a web server. Video Auto-Transcripts and Scan Features – The next tier of video management.
