I never understood why vendors love to place the pricing in the far back of their proposals, some of which I have seen that are more than 25 pages, as though you are going to start on the first page and read through. Just as I can’t figure out why vendors love giving you their history as if that is going to sway you on buying a system.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the majority of vendors who go with Gen-AI (and eventually, they all must, or they will be too far behind), use GPT (by OpenAI). I’m already seeing the sidestep I wrote about just a week ago, in order for vendors to reduce cost (those tokens). Maybe today it is ChatGPT (cheaper token-wise).

Many are affiliated marketing links – this is where a vendor sets up an affiliate program, and folks who are affiliates make money, when you click the link on their site to go to the vendor’s site. Be aware you are not changing the functionality angle, nor would you want do – especially around metrics, etc. Helium today, I believe is targeted towards larger entities (they define their entire platform as “Enterprise”, which only adds to some confusion). On the administration side, continues to be well done, but some metric data needs to be improved. Plays quite well in Multi-Tenant (aka Extended Enterprise), SMB is its strong suite and mid-market. Good for Enterprise. . I’m not sold on it being a B2B external system, but Enterprise, mid-market for employees absolutely.

This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. . I see way too many vendors think a web site is all they need and people will find them.

These two vendors are EdCast and Degreed. Getting back to being unaware, I find the same issue with a few vendors in the learning system space who are really LXPs, but have no idea. It reminded me of the vendors in the space who scream they are not an LMS, even though they hit all the standards of an LMS. . In my opinion, no.

I couldn’t care less whom these vendors have as a clients. The vendors as a whole, not just the 75, will always show big names. Unless you ask are you exclusive which means “the only learning system” at the company, association, etc – the vendors won’t cover that, while showing you the clients.
