Samsung Galaxy S is expected to be the first real challenger to the iPad, it runs on Android OS, offers Flash 10.1 Again, the iPad runs with HTML5, not Flash nor Java. True, the other tablets and Samsung offer Flash 10.1 and Java, but they offer HTML5 too. Same issue occurred with Opera – used Flash and Java.

Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. Flash output – still red hot. Lots of royalty free stock photo options here – you still have to buy the license mind you, but you can find truly “free” without giving credit to anyone and add it.

Another small trend is providing advanced admin capabilities in the form of admins who have CSS, Flash,PHP or other languages. If I have those skill sets, why would I want to be an administrator of a LMS, when I could work free-lance or in some other programming capacity? The use of geolocation – available in HTML5.

In the past year: Apple has filed a patent for 3D Kinect experience using touch free gesturing. Another Apple patent includes allowing users via touch free gesturing to move content from one device to another (example from your iPad to your television). Kinect technology and gesture free will equally make an appearance in 2012.

Metacoon – Metacoon 2.0 - 80% of their solution is free, and what rocks about that is that these are some awesome modules. The alumni and career mgt modules might be fee based, hard to tell, but the rest is free. Oh, they offer SaaS for a fee, but you can host it on your own servers for free. Supports Flash and HTML5.
