Older versions of PowerPoint have a simple feature that lets you make a single color transparent. In PowerPoint, add a shape to the slide. Click the Design tab, then click Slide Size > Custom Slide Size (or click Page Setup in older versions of PowerPoint). Now you can place a photo or draw a diagram, and when you export the slide, PowerPoint will export it to the exact size you need for your course. Export your PowerPoint “slide” an image.
