You could use any of the many authoring tools, such as Authorware, but you needed an appropriate player. With the advent of Flash, many authoring tools started creating output that could be played by the Flash player, which meant you didn’t need special software to use the courses (if your IT org would support you having it).

This evening I attended a webinar by ADL: the new standard (project TinCan) kickoff. The ADL will launch it in June. The next step is the adoption of the standard by authoring tools and LMS. Scorm is finally going to catch up with the current times. These activities are no longer limited to you.

They do a project for the ADL to investigate what the next version of SCORM should look like. The one thing I will bother you with is that I would like to have SCORM as an exchange standard between authoring systems. I would like to create a scorm-import export for authoring systems. They have called this project Tincan.
