Although I didn’t join the associations that put these things on, I voraciously ate up the content they were offering, as often as my employer would allow me to attend. I have since moved on, from marketing minion to marketing maven, but have never forgotten the associations that taught me a thing or two. Will I need an LMS?
As an Education Director, you see the writing on the wall, and have decided that eLearning is the answer your association’s needs. We all have a boss and even our best ideas require an explanation, so before you get an LMS, start designing courses, and tracking learner progress, you’ll need to get his or her approval.
So, you’re ready to take the initial plunge into eLearning, and you’re thinking of issuing a request for proposal (RFP). Distributing an RFP is a wonderful way to “set the stage” for your ideal learning management system (LMS). The good news first: the market is upbeat about LMS technology; in the recent past I have seen an increasing number of enquiries on LMS – which is good. The ‘not so bad’ news, something which made me think a little – in many RFPs I still find eLearning is a very small part of the requirements.
