There are several feature-rich online meeting platforms such as GoToWebinar, WebEx, Adobe Connect, and Zoom that allow you to replicate classroom techniques such as whiteboards, break out groups, pair and share, group project work etc. Open a poll or survey to allow participants to ask questions BEFORE the training begins.

I'm currently using Webex for webinars, unfortunately we discovered (quite late!) Because of the technical obstacles we've not tried out the polling and whiteboard features. You rather focus on winning their attention back. Polls are also a good tip and should be part of your design, especially with large-scale groups.

Most classroom training sessions had to be moved online, with instructors using virtual tools such as Zoom, Webex, Teams, and others to conduct the sessions. It’s not easy to pay attention to each participant in a virtual-only mode unlike in a closed-door face-to-face session. Some prefer Zoom sessions, while others use Webex.

It’s a problem shared by Zoom and WebEx users all over the world. Also, you should pay attention to your surroundings. Also, remember the other features that you have at your disposal — like polls or the raise-hand feature — and let attendees know if you will (or won’t) be using them. But this leaves trainers with a dilemma.
