Very Impressed with the work TechSmith (i.e. Camtasia) is doing on iPad

As far as I can tell, only TechSmith , the makers of Camtasia , has a growing presence on the iPad App store with some pretty neat apps that have impressed me quite a bit. For some reason the audio isn’t working for me, but I’m not exactly sure if this is just me, or is this also the case for other users.

eLearning & Training: How Long is Too Long?

If your slide contains some voiceover audio, a text caption or two, and an interactive object controlling navigation (such as a button or click box), 15-20 seconds is perfect. If the slide/scene plays any longer, your learner will begin to fog out. I know what you're thinking: 15-20 seconds is not enough time to teach anything.

That program was ahead of its time, allowing you to capture your mouse actions, add captions and audio, and then publish into a video format that could be viewed on most computers. When TechSmith released Camtasia I gave CameraMan the heave-ho and began producing slicker content in half the time.

TechSmith Camtasia: Reducing the Size of Video Output

I received an email from someone who recently attended my TechSmith Camtasia virtual classes. To begin, TechSmith says that "larger videos (in resolution) will dramatically increase file size. " I completely agree with what TechSmith is saying. You can reduce the file size by compressing the audio upon production.

If you're going to include voiceover audio (and I highly suggest that you do since audio has been shown to improve the learner experience), you should create an audio script.
