Learning Circuits' BigQuestion for May is "So what can, should, or will, we offer the digital generation by 2015?" There are already great cloud tools out there, but I think we will see more e-learning development tools at the level of Flash, Captivate, Articulate, OutStart Trainer, etc. on the cloud.
February's BigQuestion on the Learning Circuits blog is "What is the impact of the economy on you and your organization? My past positions have always allowed me to choose my software (Flash, Dreamweaver, Captivate, etc.), What are you doing as a result?" but I want to be prepared to develop in other tools.
April's BigQuestion from Learning Circuits is "How to Keep up?" However, being involved in an e-learning community is a big help. This is in reference the immense and rapidly expanding technology tools. It is tough to stay on top of all the emerging tools. For me it is a blog community and following many experts on Twitter.
For most organisations, adopting mobile learning raises the BIGquestion of “What do we do with our existing content (probably developed in Flash which doesn’t run on the iPad)? mEnabling (as we call it) your existing eLearning for iPads will soon become a question of ‘when’, rather than ‘if’. CaptivateCaptivate 4 introduced a TTS feature for adding slide narration and had NeoSpeech’s Paul and Kate voices built-in. The fun part of my job is having a plethora of tools in my ‘elearning development’ toolbox: Adobe Creative Suite, Captivate, Visio, Lectora, and now Articulate. There are many others, but these are the most popular and most widely used. As many do, we storyboard projects in Word and PowerPoint.

So, the question about what design choices you have in Software Simulation eLearning is no longer interesting. Adobe Captivate - I used this for creating every simulation in the course. I find Captivate to be a great tool for software simulations, plus I could easily edit instructions in the sims, add graphics including the Captain and Ossie 7. The Learning Circuits BigQuestion for April is. More Captivate : I’ve done some small-scale branching exercises and some short scenarios and cases. I see Flash as something I’d probably integrate with Captivate activities when I can’t quite do what I want in Captivate.
We even made the BigQuestion one month: New Presenter and Learner Skills and Methods. Grade: A #6 - Greater Domination by Leading Tool Vendors - Captivate, Articulate, Lectora, Camtasia Captivate 4 is going to be a great tool. Articulate has a great tool set. Lectora is great at packaging.
Value and Concern Around Voice-Over Before we jump into this specific topic, let’s look back at some of the specifics from last month’s BigQuestion - Voice Over in eLearning. The NeoSpeech voices in Captivate do not use the SAPI tags but rather a proprietary markup language, VTML.

So the question is: What advice would you give to someone who has no experience with e-learning development tools?
Well Captivate will produce HTML5 so that it can be run on an iPhone, iPad and everywhere else. The only question is my mind is how long/slow it will be. Oh and if I'm predicting relative to the bigquestion this month: Learning Technology 2015 then my prediction is that we won't be building for Flash delivery in 2015.
