Now Im not saying that SMEs are rats, or instructional designers are rats. Im thinking of Chestertons remark that theres a big difference between a man who wants to read a book and a man who wants a book to read. I like the analogy Michele Martin uses: instructional design as cooking. Sometimes you need a five star chef.
Consider this part two of my response to the Learning Circuits BigQuestion for February: Instructional Design - If, When and How Much? There seems to be a mix between contract and full time positions, and Im not sure how to read into that. The BigQuestion: Instructional Design as a Spectr. Curry said.
