Post a response to the LCB BigQuestion. This sparked heated response from people who were heavier users of these groups.
It’s a bigquestion that’s best answered by looking at what WordPress membership plugins have to offer, and what you actually need for your course. Forum or socialnetworking site. Some membership plugins have specific features that help you manage forums or other socialnetworking functions.
In the ASTD Learning Circuits blog this month, they comment on the fact that, in many organisations, learners are reaching outside of the organisation to enhance their learning experience, through socialnetworking and other media.
There have already been some great contributions to this month’s bigquestion – Predictions and Plans for 2010. Or at least have the appearance of expertise (see Expert Level Answers via SocialNetworks as one way to appear to be expert). Time-to-performance becomes the new metric. It’s funny to see that term again.

IMHO, here are a few things organizations can do to start with: Encourage "working out loud" - Put in place an Enterprise SocialNetwork (ESN), provide community management support, and make openness the default behavior of senior leaders.
This month's question comes out of part of the dialog that occur during the recent Work Literacy course. While discussing socialnetworking for personal learning, the question came up around being able to reach out and get help from people or find expertise in the form of a person / conversation.
Now students can watch the lecture when its convenient for them and discuss it perhaps on Facebook or some other socialnetwork setup for the class or setup by the students. My question to the e-Learning Development community is. Maybe this would make for a good BIGQUESTION. Nice job Dr. Willingham.
