The questions prompt quite a lively and interesting discussion among online community members. The Learning Circuits BigQuestion for May is: How do we need to change in what we do in order to address learning/performance needs that are on-demand? So, there you have it…my answer to this month’s bigquestion.
This month's ASTD Learning Circuit's Blog BigQuestion is "How do I communicate the value of social media as a learning tool to my organization?" Here are several ways to help sell Social Media in an organization. If you try to sell the use of social media as a technology play, it will not work.
Around the same time, the ASTD Learning Circuits Blog had the July "BigQuestion" which was "Choosing Tools" which is actually a series of questions: How does the eLearning design process need to change to accommodate such a wide variety of tools? It is a great entry outlining 3 elements of good design.
On this month's BigQuestion - Lead the Charge - we are already seeing some interesting responses. How can you apply them to your existing systematic learning system if you don't know what the heck wiki even means? Nobody cared about wikis until wikipedia came along.
April's BigQuestion from Learning Circuits is "How to Keep up?" However, being involved in an e-learning community is a big help. This is in reference the immense and rapidly expanding technology tools. It is tough to stay on top of all the emerging tools. For me it is a blog community and following many experts on Twitter.

The Learning Circuits BigQuestion for this month is: If you peer inside an organization in 10 years time and you look at how workplace learning is being supported by that organization, what will you see? To answer this question, I’ve organised my own two cents’ worth under six major banners… 1.

Monday, February 04, 2008 The BigQuestion: Instructional Design as a Spectrum The Learning Circuits BigQuestion this month: Instructional Design - If, When and How Much? My response here is not so much an answer to this question, but rather, further musings on this endless topic that Ive been rambling on about of late.
Tony Karrer is taking a break from the Learning Circuits blog bigquestion of the month (#LCBQ). With that in mind, the bigquestion for September is “What issues and trends do you think are having a major impact on the industry—and should be on the hot list for the LC Blog to tackle?” Good for you, Tony!

The bigquestion for March 2008 is - Scope of Learning Responsibility? Karl Kapp helped me pull this question together and it's been interesting to see the responses so far. I wanted to capture some thoughts as I've been reading these posts so far. Can you push bottom-up learning from an L&D organization?
You can use standard authoring tools, rapid development tools, LCMS, simulation development tools, HTML editors, Wikis, and many others including a vast array of media creation solutions. So, this month, The BigQuestion is. Please answer this question by posting to your own blog or commenting on this post.
The Learning Circuits Blog BigQuestion for July is 'how should e-learning developers choose their authoring tools given the proliferation of tools on the market?' Nevertheless, I believe I should address the BigQuestion in a more measured way than in last week's rant, so here goes.
The BigQuestion this month are Predictions for Learning in 2008. Wiki + SCORM + Add-ins will become more common for easy authoring. Luckily a few will also add in more community and wiki capabilities. Here are my predictions, but realistically they are more about trends in eLearning and eLearning Software. during 2008.
Another way to get connected is to contribute to ASTD's Learning Circuits Monthly BigQuestion. You can find this on the Learning Circuit's Blog. Once you are comfortable with blogging, you can begin to focus on where and how it should be used in your organization.
The bigquestion is: is content created by subject matter experts (User generated content) a solution for this problem? User generated content in corporate wiki. Learning departments can no longer keep up with the demand for ad hoc knowledge sharing and training requests. I believe it is or at least will be.
ASTD's BigQuestion this month (March) is actually two questions and since I helped Tony Karrer tweak the question a bit, I feel I must offer some type of answer (plus I aways enjoy the discussion around the BigQuestion.)
The Learning Circuits bigquestion for January asks "What are the trade offs between quality learning programs and rapid e-learning and how do you decide?" Well, there's an assumption underlying this and I'm questioning it. Much quicker and much more likely to have an impact.

Shortly, I'll be responding to this month's BigQuestion with my Predictions for Learning in 2008. but interestingly the discussion has been more of how to fit SCORM on top of alternative tools such as Wikis rather than the demise of SCORM. In December 2006, I posted my challenges and predictions for 2007.
Perhaps start as a passive consumer of blogs, wikis, social networks and the like, but edge forward by being someone who comments, responds, edits and otherwise joins in. Q: If so, then what should learning professionals do to become literate? Become a participant. The theory is interesting, but the real test is whether you practise it.

So I was super excited when I saw that Nancy White, who helps me learn about all things communities and networks , posted a response to the New Skills for Learning Professionals BigQuestion for July 2009. When I looked at her first post, I was actually disappointed because it wasn't really about networks and communities.
The BigQuestion for March on the Learning Circuits Blog is 'what is the scope of our responsibility as learning professionals?' I don't regard this question as just a topical response to the increased interest in informal learning - it's an issue that has been there as long as we have had learning professionals.
