Some of these discussions about tools is similar to the arguments that the main stream media has made about blogs and wikis. The tools are democratizing the learning process (in the same way blogs did for information) and giving the capability to the front line people and removing the friction that the formal learning departments create.

The point, however, is from the point of the view of the learner, all the resources needed are ‘to hand’ through every stage of knowledge work. Courses, information resources, people, representational tools, the ability to tap into the 4 C’s (create, contextualize, connect, co-create).

Im no Facebook super-user and I havent experienced a huge time suck from it, but I suppose its possible. Cammy, Im just a "lite" Facebook user, but I have seen profile pages that list their workplaces with commentary about how horrible their company is, or how much they hate their job. And Im in complete agreement.
Wednesday, June 17, 2009 The Scrambled Egg Mind of a Beginner Apparently, when Tom Kuhlman links to your blog, crazy things happen. Im in that beginner-mind zone. Although Ive been doing this work for 15ish years, the ground beneath me is shaky and I feel like Im in new waters, navigating new people, new processes, new tools.
So, what do I do if Im not doing that? Im not such an anal person, so this isnt my favorite thing in the world. Product Vision: This is a key area where blogging has really helped me lately. Tuesday, April 03, 2007 eLearning Guild Event -- My Sessions As Ive mentioned here before, Im extremely excited about attending the upcoming eLearning Guild event here in Boston. Im excited to go to as many sessions as I can. Im excited to pick peoples brains. And Im wondering if Im missing something really cool.
For various reasons, Im not going to go back to school to get a Masters Degree in instructional design. But I firmly believe that this journey Im on is giving me the experience and educational equivalent (if not better) than a formal M.Ed. Even though Ive been doing this ("instructional design") for over ten years, Im starting over.

Thursday, August 09, 2007 With Community Comes Great Responsibility In reflecting over the benefits of the first week or so of the 31 Days to Better Blogging Challenge , the biggest thing for me has been the overall boost in community. Im a touchy-feely-people-kind-of-person. Its awesome. Christines going to set up a netvibes page.
Im losing my steam, but trying to stay somewhat on target. So go ahead and "Email or IM another blogger in your niche to introduce yourself and your blog". Day 13: Search for an Affiliate Program My blog is not about making money. I want to share as much as I can about projects Im working on. No competition.
Im looking for some input: good examples of software product training. Im working on a pitch to a software company -- technical audience (think database guys). Im not looking to work with another vendor, Im just looking to see good examples of software training to make sure Im not behind the times! Take the Survey!
