Kirkpatrick is now saying that we need to start with Level 4. It was an opportunity I couldn’t miss. So I went to the workshop. I wanted to get a more in-depth knowledge of the four levels and where the next generation, Kirkpatrick’s son James, was taking them. As for me, I realized I didn’t really understand Level 4 at all.
Early indications of this same paradigm shift can be seen in the learning and education arenas. The problem in executing this shift is not in setting up these new learning environments and communities, but rather in embracing the change.

To start answering these questions, we have to acknowledge that formal learning, as we know it today, will not be effective in the future. Instead, we will need to put the workers themselves in charge of their own learning.
So what did this teach me about learning? Since I had some time, I intentionally decided to find the route through trial-and-error, starting only with the end address (in essence “doing”).
