What was interesting is that the interviewer was produced using Text to Speech. For short bursts of text, the computer generated voice was okay. Based on the comments during the session, a few questions came up: Does Text to Speech work for longer form content? Captivate 4 contains built in Text to Speech.

  Next, I opened Storyline's Text-to-Speech window by going to the Insert tab on the Ribbon and, from the Media group, choosing Audio > Text-to-Speech. The voiceover script text that I had previously pasted into the Notes window was added to the Text-to-Speech window.

Adobe Captivate 4: Can I Get My Agent Choices Back When I first started using the Text to Speech feature in Captivate, I was presented with a drop-down menu where I could select from either agent. Select Speech selection and then click OK. Now the agent is selected for me. However, I really want the drop-down menu.

The ability to convert text to speech using Captivate's built-in text to speech agents is awesome. All you need to do is select the slide note(s) you want to convert and then click the Text-to-Speech button. In the image below, notice that I have selected Kate from the Speech Agent drop-down menu.

Let's say for example that your eLearning project will be developed in Adobe Captivate. Captivate allows you to type--or copy and paste--the script into Slide Notes, similar to the slide notes you might be familiar with in PowerPoint. Just as with the closed captioning, creating the Text to Speech from the Slide Notes is very easy.
