Instructor-Led Training (ILT) Nothing beats the power of human interaction regarding employee training. Mentoring and Coaching Mentoring and coaching programs establish a one-on-one relationship between experienced professionals and mentees. Instructor-Led Training brings experts and learners together physically or virtually.
Before diving into this topic and then seeing all the folks rant on LinkedIn about how ILT is great, will survive, e-learning is awful, and the moon is definitely made of cheese, I wanted to let folks know (who are not aware), that I have a podcast! Other methods for Tonya to consider: Produce a podcast Use recorded customer service calls for learners to listen to when they are commuting in to work or headed home after their shifts. Video Assessment – A video assessment is based on speech patterns/words used when practicing a scenario, sales training techniques, customer service techniques to the coach/mentor/manager. This is for virtual ILT. Learners can add Podcasts to their playlist. The Podcasts is a sweet offering to have, plus in my book.

We’re obviously biased in favor of online learning, but we were surprised to discover just how many companies still relied on live Instructor-Led Training (ILT). Coaching is key. Employees are hungry to learn from their managers, so it’s important to include coaching in a training program. Reskilling is a must-have.
