Be Wary of Authoring Tool Comparisons

Adobe Captivate

There were some small jobs done in Lectora and Storyline along the way as well, but I didn’t spend enough time in either to form a solid opinion. Based on that, you might think that I would be qualified to at least offer my opinion with a comparison between Toolbook and Captivate, but I feel differently.

A while back, I did a comparison grid to help outline the key differences. Lectora is $1600 for the core e-learning software, while their Inspire suite with extra multi-media tools is $2500. Lectora is easy to learn and use, but not quite as intuitive as some of the others. The rest is primarily form- and template- based.
