For us to be successful doing this, we first need to make sure that the system will work with whatever firewall restrictions exist. For example, in our course, we found that Yahoo Groups were restricted in some corporate environments. Elluminate did not work through several firewalls, so we had to switch to WebEx.
However, I found little value over using separate tools such as Yahoo Groups and a PBWiki. My only problem was that I didn't really have a way to change the class design significantly based on the result and I should have. Through Nuvvo I did receive several registration requests, so it at least offers free advertising.
It makes sense in many of these cases to keep it inside the firewall. So no problem if their Wiki is tied to the LMS. Hopefully, we'll begin to see ways to allow a better handling of inside and outside the firewall solutions. Interestingly when Yahoo create MyWeb as a competitor to del.icio.us

No problems getting things here. Firewalls - You can certainly install tools behind the firewall. You have to decide about inside the firewall vs. SaaS, but this shouldn't hold you back. And since thousands of other people are using the same service as you do, any glitches or problems tend to get solved quickly. One problem with Cloud based solutions though, is that the Cloud can be rather crowded. And it’s far easier to lock it down, firewall it etc, according to the most secure specifications.
