The common way to publish a completed Captivate eLearning video is as a SWF (small web file). When the publish process is complete, you will end up with three files: an HTML file (which is what your learner will need to open the lesson in a web browser), a JavaScript file (called standard.js) and the SWF containing your lesson.

You do need to include all file types as some servers don’t allow the request for all media types by default and this has to be configured manually.

In the Publish dialog, select the SWF/HTML5 tab (top left). Then set the output format to HTML5 (you can turn off SWF.) But if you’ve never worked with HTML or HTML5 before it might not look the way you expected. Choose the option Publish on the big button bar. Finally, click Publish.
