The common way to publish a completed Captivate eLearning video is as a SWF (small web file). When the publish process is complete, you will end up with three files: an HTML file (which is what your learner will need to open the lesson in a web browser), a JavaScript file (called standard.js) and the SWF containing your lesson.

If you publish your Captivate projects as SWFs, you can combine multiple SWF files into one lesson using the Aggregator. Once added to an Aggregator project, you can publish the combined files as a SWF, EXE file, PDF or HTML. The published Aggregator file will include a TOC using the names of the separate SWF files.

When viewing the swf file, the videos appear to be attempting to load (i get loader icon indications) but the video never loads. I need this video saved into the swf file, if at all possible.

Adobe Dreamweaver - Still the best tool for creating web pages (I occasionally have to do that) and jerry-rigging the HTML in courses. It gets me out of my e-learning vacuum.

Currently, you can export SCORM packages to Flash, HTML, or both. Flash is the most popular output type, so it’s likely that your courses are SWF Flash-based. You do have to have someone put together some script to help “translate” what data from the course go into what fields in the database, but they provide guidance one that.

If however, you preview exactly the same project as ‘HTML 5 in Browser’, on the final press of the submit button, instead of taken the user back to the menu, the course advances to the next slide. I’m guessing this is some kind of bug since the only difference is the way in which the course is being previewed?

Beware: the embedded movie is a SWF, you need a browser with enabled Flash Player to watch that movie. Everything worked fine for SWF output also in later versions. However it is now partially broken for HTML output in CP9 and CP2017. It is this second part that is no longer functional in recent versions for HTML output.
