The Online Network of Independent Learning Professionals (ONILP) meets via Zoom twice a month. This is my primary personal learning network. When I read something interesting, I bookmark it so it’s easy to find and refer to later when I need it. Zoom is also one of the main tools that helps me learn from colleagues.
Back in 2015, I gave a short presentation for the Online Network of Independent Learning Professionals on finding freelance clients. The biggest shift for me is that more of my work now comes from networking and referrals rather than from my blog and portfolio. Networking = Relationships. Watch the recording.
I refer those projects to others when possible. Even prospective clients who weren’t referred by someone else (which also confers trust) have usually read some of my posts or seen my work. They know that I know what I’m talking about because they’ve already heard me present or used my blog as a reference.
