Could-based LMSs have the capacity to bring down your Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), something that has being largely overlooked during LMS vendor comparisons. Personal Learning Environment (PLE). The future LMS will increasingly be run on cloud for its agile, flexible and economic characteristics.
More and more vendors (authoring tools, Learning Management Systems, social platforms, mobile games, and simulations) are adopting or testing this new standard. We can see a growing number of vendors (ebooks, games, simulations, LMSs, etc.) However, ‘Experience API’ is ADL’s official name for this standard. SCORM VS EXPERIENCE API.
In the eLearning sector many vendors have created eLearning solutions primarily for educational institutions. Call them Personal Learning Environments (PLE) if you want but the key issue here is that they are based on user-centric design. Interesting post. Horizontal technologies for learning. Quite true.

So, P2P hits mainstream, okay, quite a few vendors. I see some vendors including a note or comment capability to the content curation, especially with the mobile video. I’ve yet to see this extensive set of options, but I do believe that some vendor (at least a few) will offer some type of capabilities, although not as robust.

tools in teaching (wikis, blogs, podcasting, Facebook, YouTube), papers on mobile technology, Second Life, the VLE vs the PLE debate, aggregation, transnational perspectives on e-learning, e-assessment and e-portfolios, audience response systems, collaborative content management, and even a paper on terrorism and the web!
A PLE can be messy. As an external vendor it can be extremely hard to change that mindset. Forget about it. e-Learning should be all neat and tied up in a nice wrapper with a Next button that moves you through a content checklist and a great assessment at the end. Its personal, after all. And people are messy. Should training be messy?
43 profiles, whereas each vendor responded to 12 questions – covering everything from setup fees to data centers to latest features to support/training to security/privacy. . After reading thru, you will likely find the vendor you are seeking – it is that extensive. . Based on 690 vendors. A bit more. 8 LearnUpon.
One thing your comment really got me thinking more about is, in general, vendors’ lack of features to support informal and/or social interaction. I recently participated in the #PLENK2010 MOOC, a Massive Open Online Course to study PLE’s PLN’s and PLM. But it seems you learned that in the process.
A great chap who provided a new perspective of PLE (private learning environments) for students, which in simplest terms, is the idea that each student would become their own LMS. There were vendors as well, the majority coming from the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia. Ripe for expansion for vendors seeking a new market.
So great to connect with so many amazing peo ple - old friends and new connections made. The Expo Hall 150+ vendors – biggest year ever BIG booths like DevLearn has never seen before! Data and Analytics are top of mind for people and extremely low on the L&D team's list of skills.
