Initially, the conversation was about having learning content appear on the enterprise portal. Many LMS vendors provide portlets, gadgets or widgets that allow for access of learning content (most often meaning courses and courseware) through the corporate portal. The interface is not really even the enterprise Portal.

These systems were actually the first practical employee-centric portals. This change in the way we interact with information has made the original LMS paradigm, that of a portal-based online university, increasingly obsolete. I don’t predict the end of big systems like Saba, SumTotal, SAP or any other LMS vendor overnight.
Talk to anyone who has a multi-tenant (multi-portal) platform and immediately they will pitch that they are ideal for any markets including the B2B. Ability to skin/brand each sub-portal/tenant/instance/child separately, so if there are 25 children, then each child has a different skin/brand than the parent (main site) and so forth.
SumTotal is coming out with a new UI for their learning module in August. Speaking of SumTotal, whoever showed me the product should get a raise! Q: Saba, SumTotal, Cornerstone, Taleo, SuccessFactors must be the best because a lot of people buy these systems. Case in point: IMO one of the worst UI’s I have ever seen comes from Cornerstone OnDemand, which is quite popular. I wouldn’t recommend this system to anyone, okay maybe my worst enemy or someone who deserves no mercy.
Regardless, the system must be able to have different looks for each tenet aka portal aka child (parent-child, where you are the parent and then if you have say ClientX and they want to be on the system, they become the child OR your product that you sell to professionals wants a different look than the one for consumer grade).

In my LMS directory (which includes LCMS, Learning Portals) there are 369 vendors. I am still hearing of problems with Captivate 5 and SumTotal. Hopefully, SumTotal will release an update to solve this. Growth in number of new vendors coming into the space. So for every vendor that leaves the market, another one is coming in.
