Effective design using PPT as a tool. Not PPT 101. Many tools out there that still have to start with ppt Use it as a storyboarding tool, prototyping. Can do an awful lot with PPT. Taking information and applying it to a real problem How do we keep from overloading learners? Why PowerPoint? We have it. It’s cheap.

Moving from information dumps to more problem solving formats. Is lack of knowledge really the cause of the problem? So that the default ID of what elearning is (screens full of elearning quizzes) broadens to include other things…(the default elearning course that’s info screen, info screen, quiz question…) What is Action Mapping?

Or worse, your idea of a participants guide is the PPT deck printed off so that it has the slide with the 3 lines next to it. Give people a complete guide, not a PPT deck and be sure it has all the information needed in it. Trainers think the only way people will pay attention is because they know at the end, they will receive a quiz.

Operating in the exact same way as PPT, changing text, player templates and colour schemes couldn’t be easier. You import audio’ in almost the same way as you would upload a file or image in PPT. And if you build your quiz and interaction screens in Flash too then you can avoid some of the other problems that I’ve outlined above.

Quiz formats (M/C: single or multiple answer, sequencing, true/false, labeling, pics, etc.). Cannot move slides in the arrange mode – i.e. once you upload the PPT with the slide order, you cannot move say slide #9 to spot #4, rather you have to do this in PPT and then re-upload. Easy to use. Selling course option.
