The initial version of Kodu required the Xbox 360 console but now Kodu is available as a free download for your Windows PC as well. It includes several tutorials to help you quickly figure out how to create new games, or you can look at the sample games bundled with the program for new ideas. This is an interesting direction.

The outputs include PDF, SWF, JPG, PNG, SVG, FXG or web files. FYI: It also appears that for those involved in piloting the education version, there is some integration with Moodle. Choose Widget type -> Static and ActionScript Version-> ActionScript2.0. We will ignore the ‘Preview’ window and the last part of the skeleton code which is used to pass parameters from the widget to Captivate (we will deal with these sections in the next tutorial). So, shall we get started?

If you do not have the 2017 release of Adobe Captivate, download a trial version of Captivate. If you are on a Mac, you’ll find your installed version of Captivate under Applications. In the Publish dialog, select the SWF/HTML5 tab (top left). Then set the output format to HTML5 (you can turn off SWF.)

Time to upgrade this article to integrate the changes within newer versions (system variable names) and the switch from SWF to HTML output. If you have a look at that article, please use a Flash Player enabled browser to watch the embedded interactive movie (SWF). A published cptx-file (to HTML or SWF) is an interactive movie.
