That has changed. Open Source Free Content Authoring Tools. CourseLab – ADL SCORM certified, no less. PENS was created in 2005 by AICC as a new interoperability standard. What I would do, if I wanted to use an authoring tool in my system, use a free open source one with strong functionality.

I mean it is not like something is going to change in just a few weeks for any such product. Yes, it offers the social learning authoring features – robust actually, which most vendors in this space does not, but it has added task management and PENS. #7 What hurts them though is no HTML5 output, which I hope will change.

Rapid Content Authoring Tools 2010 – Innovators, Winners and Updated Trends

In 2010, the RCAT market continued its upswing and nothing indicates to me it will be changing anytime soon. Open Source Product of the Year (i.e. ADL SCORM 2004 CERTIFIED. Same thing with PENS i.e. a SCORM LMS that does not support PENS will not work with a PENS content authoring tool. Game Changer!
