This evening I attended a webinar by ADL: the new standard (project TinCan) kickoff. The ADL will launch it in June. The ‘Did’ for example can be a learning experience, an assessment or a social media activity. Scorm is finally going to catch up with the current times.

I attended a session by Aaron Silvers, Community Manager at Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL). Summary: Tin Can is designed to provide a common data storage for learning experiences across a number of devices/platforms/media/information systems. ADL) who would take up responsibility of having an LRS for each person?

Social media? The result was SCORM 2.0. The effort was dubbed Project Tin Can. And what is xAPI used for?

I had a meeting with Aaron Silvers (from ADL) and Tim Rustici (from Rustici software) about Project Tin Can. Allowing collaboration on courses, include social media; giving us a language to talk to learning management systems, in short it will lift the limitations that Scorm gives us. It will actually focus on learning experiences.

Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) is leading the effort for the next generation of SCORM. It will collect activity streams similar to the way social media applications track activity streams. Project Tin Can is a response to these changes. These activities are captured by a Learning Record Store (LRS).
