Clearly this is a different use of PLE's than those outside the firewall, for free rangers, and for learning from everything of personal interest. And they are not, therefore, PLEs.

I'm hoping to address questions such as: How do you create a personal tool set or Personal Learning Environment (PLE) for yourself? What are the most important methods to adopt in addition to the tools? Thus, whenever I say you "should" be using this tool, I really mean you should try this tool out and consider adopting it.

Enterprises that love PLE's Cross battles Downes: is corporate learning corrupt? if people will adopt these tools and approaches over time, then as a corporation, if you want to be able to keep the content after an employee leaves, especially blog content.

Call them Personal Learning Environments (PLE) if you want but the key issue here is that they are based on user-centric design. Quite true. Social technologies are different. Blogs and wikis are already being implemented by learners themselves. I'm not sure what he means by "they are based on user-centric design" but the idea is right.

Blogging Inside or Outside the Corporate Firewall

Stephen Downes commented on my recent post - Personal Work and Learning Environments (PWLE) - More Discussion and said - I am opposed to the trend coming from the corporate learning side of the house to treat PLEs as work tools. Stephen's very much correct about a PLE being for the person. It is an interesting issue.
